Injuries Hit Warriors as Schedule Debate Intensifies

Stephen Curry will miss Wednesday’s game against the Miami Heat due to a recurring right ankle issue that has affected him in two of his last three games. Several key players are also unavailable, including Jimmy Butler (lower back strain), Draymond Green (illness), Al Horford (rest on the second night of a back-to-back), and Jonathan Kuminga (knee tendinitis).

Warriors coach Steve Kerr described Curry, Green, and Butler as “day-to-day,” expressing hope that Curry’s ankle concern won’t become a long-term issue. Kerr added that the team will reevaluate Curry’s condition after returning from their current road trip.

This game marks Golden State’s only visit to Miami this season. Butler, who previously spent more than five years with the Heat, was traded to the Warriors before last season’s deadline.

The Warriors’ extensive injury list comes during a demanding stretch of the schedule—17 games in 30 days across 12 different cities—fueling Kerr’s renewed push to reconsider the NBA’s packed calendar. He linked the heavy schedule to a rise in soft-tissue injuries league-wide and emphasized the importance of protecting players and maintaining high-quality performance.

Miami Heat coach Erik Spoelstra acknowledged Kerr’s concerns but noted that reducing the number of games is unlikely under the current financial and broadcasting structures, saying that meaningful schedule changes remain unrealistic at this time.
